Today we start the AJPU trecena, which will guide us through a journey of spiritual transformation and self-discovery. This journey opens the door for us to explore what is hidden in our subconscious, cellular and soul memories, and even ancestral memories stored in our DNA.
There are so many things that rule our lives that sometimes we are not aware of. That means we are making other people’s thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and life stories ours. We can also be repeating ancestral patterns, stories, or traumas that hide our true selves and potential.
A spiritual journey consists of daring to go and explore the deepest and darkest places inside of us without judgment, so we can bring to awareness what has been ruling our lives from the shadows. When we are conscious of them, then we can work with them.
This journey is not an easy one; that is why many people avoid it. It is easier to play the victim role than to take full responsibility for our life’s journey. It comes as a strong call for a few who need to understand deep truths. It is a solo journey, which brings different initiations, big changes in our lives, the death of the idea of who we think we are, and it can even activate a dark night of the soul in our lives; but the reward of the realizations it brings is priceless. This is something that cannot be explained with words; it can only be experienced.
Dare to explore the darkest or most hidden aspects of yourself, and bring light to them. If you keep ignoring them, it will be like trying to keep a beach ball underwater; it will keep pushing up until it hits you in the face. As some people say: “What you resist persists.”
Perhaps what you call a shadow has been seen all this time from the eyes, projections, and judgments of others. But this time, it could be seen with eyes of compassion and acceptance to change those projections. If we do not accept all our parts and our complementary energies, we will not be complete. It would be like trying to separate the two sides of the same coin. There are shadows in daylight and light at night.
**AJPU represents the spiritual warrior, the strength to overcome spiritual tests in our life. It reminds us of the mythical Mayan twins Jun Ajpu and Ix Balam Kej, complementary energies. The Popol Vuh narrates how the twins undertake the journey to Xibalba’ and with cleverness, overcome the tests imposed. They die and resurrect, returning as great magicians, defeating the Lords of Xibalba. According to that mythology, Jun Ajpu then becomes the Sun, and Ix Balam Kej becomes the Moon.
This story reminds us of the “Hero’s Journey”. How on our spiritual path we must dare to undertake the inner journey and face our own shadows. Here, we heal, transmute, and integrate what is needed. In this process, that image of us that is not real has to die, to give way to transformation, to our divinity. Thus, we can offer our gifts in the service of humanity.
AJPU also represents nobility, security, certainty, art, great magic, and regenerative strength. Most nahuales are represented by an animal, but AJPU is represented by the human.

Hoy comenzamos la trecena de AJPU, que nos guiará a través de un viaje de transformación espiritual y autodescubrimiento. Este viaje nos abre la puerta a explorar lo que se esconde en nuestro subconsciente, en las memorias celulares y del alma, e incluso en las memorias ancestrales almacenadas en nuestro ADN.
Hay tantas cosas que rigen nuestra vida de las que a veces no somos conscientes. Eso significa que estamos haciendo nuestros los pensamientos, creencias, emociones e historias de vida de otras personas. También podemos estar repitiendo patrones ancestrales, historias o traumas que ocultan nuestro verdadero ser y potencial.
Un viaje espiritual consiste en atreverse a ir a explorar los lugares más profundos y oscuros de nuestro interior sin juzgarlos, para poder sacar a la luz lo que ha estado gobernando nuestra vida desde las sombras. Cuando seamos conscientes de ellas, entonces podremos trabajar con ellas.
Este viaje no es fácil, por eso mucha gente lo evita. Es más fácil jugar el papel de víctima que asumir la plena responsabilidad de nuestro viaje en la vida. Es una llamada fuerte para algunos que necesitan comprender verdades profundas. Es un viaje en solitario, que conlleva diferentes iniciaciones, grandes cambios en nuestras vidas, la muerte de la idea de quiénes creemos que somos, e incluso puede activar una noche oscura del alma en nuestras vidas; pero la recompensa de las realizaciones que trae no tiene precio. Es algo que no se puede explicar con palabras, sólo se puede experimentar.
Atrévete a explorar los aspectos más oscuros u ocultos de ti mism@, y trae luz a ellos. Si sigues ignorándolos, será como intentar mantener una pelota de playa bajo el agua; seguirá empujando hacia arriba hasta que te dé en la cara. Como dicen algunos: “Lo que se resiste persiste”.
Quizás lo que llamas sombra se ha visto todo este tiempo desde los ojos, las proyecciones y los juicios de los demás. Pero esta vez, podría verse con ojos de compasión y aceptación para cambiar esas proyecciones. Si no aceptamos todas nuestras partes y nuestras energías complementarias, no estaremos completos. Sería como intentar separar las dos caras de una misma moneda. Hay sombras en la luz del día y luz en la noche.
**AJPU representa a el/la guerrer@ espiritual, la fuerza para superar las pruebas espirituales en nuestra vida. Nos recuerda a los míticos gemelos mayas Jun Ajpu e Ix Balam Kej, energías complementarias. El Popol Vuh narra cómo los gemelos emprenden el viaje a Xibalba y con astucia, superan las pruebas impuestas. Mueren y resucitan, regresando como grandes magos, derrotando a los Señores de Xibalba. Según esa mitología, Jun Ajpu se convierte en el Sol, e Ix Balam Kej en la Luna.
Esta historia nos recuerda el “Viaje del Héroe”. Cómo en nuestro camino espiritual debemos atrevernos a emprender el viaje interior y enfrentarnos a nuestras propias sombras. Aquí, sanamos, transmutamos e integramos lo que se necesita. En este proceso, esa imagen de nosotr@s que no es real tiene que morir, para dar paso a la transformación, a nuestra divinidad. Así, podemos ofrecer nuestros dones al servicio de la humanidad.
AJPU también representa la nobleza, la seguridad, la certeza, el arte, la gran magia y la fuerza regenerativa. La mayoría de los nahuales están representados por un animal, pero AJPU está representado por el humano.
