AJPU reminds us of the Mayan Hero Twins, but today’s energy reminds us of Ix Balam Kej, who represents the feminine principle of them. As Ix Balam Kej becomes the moon at the end of the allegory, it invites us to take another look at what we understand by shadows, darkness, and night.
It is said that photography is painting with light, but the shadows are the ones that bring depth, texture, shapes, and sometimes even mystery to what is captured. Without shadows, the image would be flat. It is the combination of light and shadows together that create the contrast in a great photograph. The same thing happens in life. These two bring contrast to our existence, helping us to appreciate life.
Where there is light, there is shadow, and where there is shadow there is light. One cannot exist without the other. What if we learn to see the beauty of transformation that happens in darkness? What if we use our shadows to find our light? When we ignore or push away our shadows, we also push away the gifts and teachings that come with them.
The shadows and light in the moon are the ones that guide us to each of its phases. The daily dance of the sun and the moon with Earth helps us connect with the natural cycles of life. Stop fighting your shadows. Let the shadows guide you through the depths of yourself, and embrace all the aspects in you with acceptance and compassion. Learn to feel and connect with your intuitive senses to find your path in the darkest hour of your night.
**AJPU represents the spiritual warrior, the strength to overcome spiritual tests in our life. It reminds us of the mythical Mayan twins Jun Ajpu and Ix Balam Kej, complementary energies. The Popol Vuh narrates how the twins undertake the journey to Xibalba and with cleverness, overcome the tests imposed. They die and resurrect, returning as great magicians, defeating the Lords of Xibalba. According to that mythology, Jun Ajpu then becomes the Sun, and Ix Balam Kej becomes the Moon.
This story reminds us of the “Hero’s Journey”, and how on our spiritual path we must dare to undertake the inner journey and face our own shadows. Here, we heal, transmute, and integrate what is needed. In this process, that image of us that is not real has to die, to give way to transformation, to our divinity. Thus, we can offer our gifts in the service of humanity.
AJPU also represents nobility, security, certainty, art, great magic, and regenerative strength.

AJPU nos recuerda a los Héroes Gemelos Mayas, pero la energía de hoy nos recuerda a Ix Balam Kej, que representa el principio femenino en ellos. El hecho de que Ix Balam Kej se convierta en la luna al final de la alegoría, nos invita a echar otra mirada a lo que entendemos por sombras, oscuridad y noche.
Se dice que la fotografía es pintar con luz, pero son las sombras las que aportan profundidad, textura, formas y a veces incluso misterio a lo que se capta. Sin las sombras, la imagen sería plana. Es la combinación de luces y sombras lo que crea el contraste en una gran fotografía. Lo mismo ocurre en la vida. Éstas aportan contraste a nuestra existencia, ayudándonos a apreciar la vida.
Donde hay luz, hay sombra, y donde hay sombra hay luz. Una no puede existir sin la otra. ¿Y si aprendemos a ver la belleza de la transformación que ocurre en la oscuridad? ¿Y si utilizamos nuestras sombras para encontrar nuestra luz? Cuando ignoramos o alejamos nuestras sombras, también alejamos los dones y las enseñanzas que vienen con ellas.
Las sombras y la luz de la luna son las que nos guían en cada una de sus fases. La danza diaria del sol y la luna con la Tierra nos ayuda a conectar con los ciclos naturales de la vida. Deja de luchar con tus sombras. Deja que las sombras te guíen a través de las profundidades de ti mism@, y abraza todos los aspectos que hay en ti con aceptación y compasión. Aprende a sentir y a conectar con tus sentidos intuitivos para encontrar tu camino en la hora más oscura de tu noche.

Nos recuerda a los míticos gemelos mayas Jun Ajpu e Ix Balam Kej, energías complementarias. El Popol Vuh narra cómo los gemelos emprenden el viaje a Xibalba y con astucia, superan las pruebas impuestas. Mueren y resucitan, regresando como grandes magos, derrotando a los Señores de Xibalba. Según esa mitología, Jun Ajpu se convierte en el Sol, e Ix Balam Kej en la Luna.
Esta historia nos recuerda el “Viaje del Héroe”. Cómo en nuestro camino espiritual debemos atrevernos a emprender el viaje interior y enfrentarnos a nuestras propias sombras. Aquí, sanamos, transmutamos e integramos lo que se necesita. En este proceso, esa imagen de nosotr@s que no es real tiene que morir, para dar paso a la transformación, a nuestra divinidad. Así, podemos ofrecer nuestros dones al servicio de la humanidad.
